미국은 한국전쟁에 150만 명이 참전하여 5만 4000명
이 사망하고 11만 명이 잡히거나 부상 당했으며,
8,000명이 실종 되었다.

성조기 아래에는 "조국은 그들이 전혀 알지도
못하는 나라와 한번도 만나본 적 없는 사람들을 지키기
위해 조국의 부름에 응한 아들 딸들에게 경의를
표한다" 라고 적혀 있다.

Our Nation honors her sons and daughters who
answered the call to defend a country they never knew
and a people they never met.


링컨기념관 인근 한국전쟁 참전용사 기념관의
기념 조형물은 미국 성조기를 향해서 우비를 입은
한 전투소대가 전진하는 모습을 그리고 있다.


조각상 양쪽벽에는 한국전쟁 참전용사
2,500명의 얼굴들이 레이저로 새겨져 있다.


마. 맨하탄의 한국전쟁 참전 기념비


한국전쟁에서 전사한 군인들을 기리는 장소가 뉴욕 맨하탄의
최남단 배터리 파크 내에 있다.수많은 기념물과 기념탑이 있는데
그 가운데 가장 눈에 띄는 기념물은 군인 형상의 구멍 뚫린
조각물이다. 이것이 바로 한국전쟁 참전 기념비이다.

한국전쟁 참전 토이기(터키)기념탑에 있는 참전
희생자 명단. 터키 수도 앙카라 한국 공원에 있는 높이
9m의 4층짜리 ‘한국전쟁 참전토이기(터키)기념탑’


서울-앙카라 자매결연을 계기로 1973년
11월, 1년여간 시공을 거쳐 세워진 탑이다.

타. 에티오피아 참전용사촌(한국마을)



에티오피아는 아프리카 국가 중 유일하게
유엔군의 일원으로 6·25 전쟁에 참전했다.

에티오피아군은 화천, 금화, 양구, 철원 등 강원도의
최전방지역에서 공산침략군과 싸웠다.
한국전 참전
16개국 중 유일하게 포로가 없을 정도로 에티오피아군은
가장 용맹스러운 군대였다고 한다.


2. 국내 6.25 참전기념비


가. 유엔군 초전기념비(경기 오산시)

오산 유엔군 참전기념비는 한국전쟁(1950년 6월 25일)시
유엔군의 일원으로 1950년 7월 5일 미군 제 24사단 소속
제21보병부대 및 제 52 야포대대 소속 1개 중대로 편성된 스미스
전투부대 406명의 장병이, 북한과의 최초 전투를 기념하기
위하여 1955년 7월 5일 미군 제 24단과 장병에
의하여 건립되었다.


나.
UN묘지 (부산 남구 대연동)

부산 남구대연동 779번지 일대의 면적 144, 146㎡로 유엔묘지
는 1950년 6월 25일 북한의 도발에 의해 한반도에 전쟁이 일어나자
한국을 돕기위해 참전한 16개국의 전투 지원국과 5개국의 의료
지원국의 유엔군 장병의 전사한 영령을 안치한 곳이다.



1951년 1월 18일에 묘지를 조성 설치하고, 1955년 11월 15일
유엔총회에서 채택된 세계에서 오직 하나 뿐인 유엔 관리 묘지로,
1959년 유엔과 우리정부 사이에 묘지의 영구적인 관리 및 사용을 위한
협정이 성립되었으며, 1974년에는 관리권이 영령을 안치한 참전국
11개국으로 구성된 국제연합 기념관리위원회에 이관되었다.

현재 이곳에 안치된 영령은 영국 884, 터어키 462, 캐나다 378,
오스트레일리아 281, 네델란드 117, 프랑스 44, 뉴우질랜드 34,
미국 19, 남아프리카공화국 11, 노르웨이 1, 한국 36, 무명용사 4,
비전투원 11기로서 총 2, 282기가 안치되어 있다.

다.부산 유엔군 참전기념비


높이 12.05m, 16개의 기둥으로 탑신을 이루고,기둥의
중간부분에 각국 의 특색을 살린 군인상을 청동으로 조각해
붙였으며, 기둥끝에 각국의 국기를 게양토록 했다.
3. UN군 6.25전쟁 참전
